In 2023 "Klaipėda region in the labyrinths of history"

"Miracle of Cognition 2023" is the largest camp for blind and partially sighted schoolchildren from Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Ukraine.

For the 12th time, blind and partially sighted children were delighted by the camp "Miracle of Cognition" 2023 organized by Klaipėda Old Town Rotary Club, Klaipėda Vision Education Center, other helpers, supporters and friends.

"Miracle of Cognition 2023" was held in 2023 June 19-25 The 12th for visually impaired children took place at the student recreation camp "Raganė", at Monciškės st. 28A, Palanga, Monciškės. The camp is located on the seashore between Palanga and Šventoji.

About 10-15 minutes to the sea with clean dunes, and forest. Traditionally, the opening of the camp was started with pounding drum rhythms, given by the drumming orchestra of Palanga "Vyturio" primary school, and the group "Žemaitukai" created a fun mood, also giving their performance.

The theme of this year`s "Miracle of Cognitions 2023" was "Klaipėda region in the labyrinths of history", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the annexation of Klaipėda region to Lithuania. Therefore, there were many educational sessions introducing the history of Klaipėda region, household, crafts, and games. This year`s camp had the largest number of participants - as many as 110 campers came. We are glad that even half of the camp participants were guests from Ukraine and Poland.

During the camp, the participants have visited the Maritime Museum in Klaipeda, the Castle Museum, the Amber Museum in Palanga, and walked around the Palanga Fairy Tale Park. Guests with educational programs also visited the camp: Klaipeda territorial customs with cute service dogs trained for responsible work, UAB Augma presented the tasting of exotic fruits, amber master Gintaras Eidukas presented an educational session about amber and many others. Creative workshops, picnics, horse riding with ponies, orienteering, friendship sprint, wreath weaving and St. John`s bonfire, swimming not only in the sea, but also in foam, picnics by the sea and, of course, fun discos awaited the campers. Friends from Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia met again. The days passed like one wonderful moment.

The whole camp week was filled with the best emotions, interesting meetings, sports, creative activities, songs, dances and entertainment! After a sensitive Talent concert, gratitude, gifts and hugs, this, 2023 camp, was completed with faith and hope that we will all meet in the next 2024 year summer! We sincerely thank our most important friends - director of the Klaipeda Visual Education Center Laimute Glaveckieni and her wonderful teachers, who once again created the Miracle of Cognition and gave children with visual impairments joy, happiness, knowledge, friendship and a week away from everyday life! See you next summer!

MONDAY, 19TH JUNE

Festive concert. Performance of the drummers’ team from Palangas’s old gymnasium, led
by Augustinas & Skaistutė Užkuratai. Concert of folk groups and soloist of the Klaipeda’
Ukrainian community. Thanks gesture to the sponsors.
19.30 – 20.30 Concert of the band “Žemaitukai”.

TUESDAY, 20TH JUNE

9.00 – 10.00 Educational message for children. Children will strengthen their ability to notice their own and others inner resources and will learn to present themselves to others and to hear, understand and accept an authentic friend with their unique qualities and character traits.

Activities at the Maritime Museum:
10.00 – 11.30 Visiting the Baltic Sea Animal Rehabilitation Center: 10:00 - I gr., 10:40 - II gr. 11:30 - Grade III (as groups change, other groups familiarize themselves with the environment)
12.00 – 13.00 Dolphins and California sea lions show.
13.00 – 13.45 Picnic at the ethnographic fisherman`s homestead.
14.00 – 14.45 Education at the Maritime Museum (three separate educational sessions for 3 groups)
14.45 – 16.00 Visiting the Lithuania’ Maritime Museum and Aquarium.
16.00 – 17.00 Return to the camp.
17.00 – 18.00 Rest time
18.00 – 18.30 Dinner
